Paediatric Allergy and Immunology Specialist
General Paediatrician
Dr. Chaitanya Bodapati is a dual trained Paediatric Allergy/Immunology Specialist and General Paediatrician.
She has expertise in managing food allergies, hay fever (including dust and pollen allergies) and eczema. She also manages a variety of other conditions including:
As a qualified General Paediatrician, Chaitanya understands how allergy can affect the growth and development of children. She adopts a nurturing, child-focused approach informed by the latest research and international best practice. She herself, had a baby who had multiple food allergies, which has further helped her understand the impact it can have on a household.
She is particularly interested in food allergy, actively involving herself in food allergy research. Chaitanya has been an investigator for large international studies investigating food allergy immunotherapy/desensitisation.
Chaitanya is also one of two paediatric allergists employed for the nationwide Allergy Assist program. This is an online service that provides specialist advice and support to rural GPs who are requiring guidance, given the difficulty remote patients face to see an allergy specialist.
Chaitanya grew up in Brisbane and studied medicine at The University of Adelaide. She began her paediatric training in Brisbane, before moving to Sydney – which she now calls home – to complete her general paediatrics and paediatric immunology and allergy training at both Sydney Children's Hospital and The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Given her interest in eosinophilic oesophagitis, Chaitanya also undertook additional training in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
